The Gallery - The Weekend

At the weekend, the sun came out, bright and round and hotter than it had been for months.  To my son, this meant one thing - ice cream!  Everywhere we went, he rapidly sought out the van or the café, like an ice cream-seeking missile.  He always opts for the same thing - a small cone with a flake - and yet it still takes him an age of deliberation to make his choice.  Even the smallest ice cream melts over his hands and inevitably coats his cheeky smile in white.  He sits, legs outstretched in front of him, and licks at his ice cream, seemingly not noticing it dripping on to his clothes, his skin.  For a short while, he is engrossed; the perfect picture of summer and childhood.

At the weekend, there was ice cream.  My son loves ice cream.  I love my son.

Cute Cute review

Last week, Jasmine was sent a beautifully-wrapped parcel in the post, courtesy of Cute Cute boutique.

Inside, she found a gorgeous, super-sparkly Princess top with her name spelled out in purple jewels.

She was very happy!

Cute Cute also sell some absolutely divine tutu skirts and beautiful accessories, which have gone straight to the top of Jasmine's wish list!

Little boys are also catered for with items like this adorable top.

So, what did my little princess have to say about her gift?

She loved it!

What do you think of your new top, Jasmine?

Amazing!

Specifically?

It has a lovely glittery crown and a purple heart.  I think my friends would love them.

Is it comfortable?

It is a bit itchy around my shoulders but the rest of it is really fine.

Being Jasmine, the top ended the day in a rather interesting array of colours from various scenarios and condiments but, thankfully, everything washed out at 40 degrees and the embellishments were unaffected.

This really is a beautiful item and would make a great, thoughtful gift for the little girl in your life.

Happy anniversary, Smiles and Trials

On May 4th 2011, I finally acted upon the decision to blog.  Since that day, two years ago, my little blog has seen us move three times, it has seen an engagement and other huge departures for my family.  It has seen Jasmine and Sonny grow from a toddler and a baby to a preschooler and a toddler.

However, it lay neglected for much of 2011 and 2012.  It is only in the last two months that I have really got into the blogging, the writing, the documenting.  My little blog is flourishing and I love it. I love the record of our lives that I am creating.  I love that when you look back on my first post (and those that followed), it is clear to see that not only has Jasmine grown beyond recognition, but my writing has changed and evolved too.  I am full of inspiration, ideas.  I am excited about my blog.  I am looking forward.

Thank you for reading thus far; I really hope that you continue to read, enjoy and support me and my little blog.

Here's to the next two years!

Dear Jennie - on Matilda Mae's first birthday

Dear Jennie

Today, we celebrated Matilda Mae's first birthday, I hope that is ok.

We wrote her name in moon sand.

We blew bubbles up to the sky.

We made purple salt dough stars.

We baked a pink cake and decorated it with MM for Matilda Mae.

And, once the children are sleeping and as the sun sets, I will light a candle for beautiful baby Tilda.

I am so sorry that this is all I can do.

I wish, with every part of me, that I could bring your baby home.

Turn back time.

Bring to your mind the comfort that you have bestowed upon others.

Give to your heart the peace that it deserves.

Return to your arms your darling daughter.

You know that I cannot.

And I am sorry.

Thinking of you, today and always.
